Who We Are
Rebuilding the Village (formerly Park Avenue Youth & Family Services) focuses on bringing families together to be the support system for each other in the places where our social systems fail.
Too often, children and families fall through the cracks of the systems that are supposed to help support them.
As we have watched the transformation in our communities over the last few years, we realized that the time had come when we also needed to transform in order to fully serve the families that we care so deeply about.
We recognized that the “village” that had been there when we were growing up was no longer in place for many of our children. Missing were the aunties, uncles, grandmas and grandpas who were present in the community to nurture us, support us, and redirect us when we needed it.
As we contemplated all the changes we were going to need to make in order to become what our communities needed us to be, we decided to not just change our programming, but also our name and our mission statement.

We changed our name to Rebuilding the Village because that is what our goal is - to help rebuild the village support systems that our children and families need to help them feel safe, supported, seen...and loved.
We asked our parents what they needed and wanted from our organization as we looked toward the future. We took what they said and started created our programming based on their desires. We anticipate that our programming will continue to change as our families needs change.
So, here we are….growing and changing along with our families...becoming the strong Village that will bring our babies into adulthood being positive, healthy, productive, compassionate members of the Village.
We will still offer academic programming, but our babies cannot learn academics until their very basic needs are met. And so meet those needs we will….and together we will struggle….and laugh...and grow.
