Enroll in Summer in the Village

Thank you for thinking of Summer in the Village (SIV) for your scholar. Returning families are given first priority during registration. After they have enrolled, any remaining spots open to new scholars beginning May 1st.

Eligibility to Register

SIV is open to scholars entering Kindergarten through 6th grade. Our classrooms are multiage and intentionally small, with no more than 10 scholars each, so every child gets focused attention.

What We Ask of Families

Consistent attendance: Scholars should arrive on time and attend every day for the full six weeks. If your family plans to travel during June or July, SIV is not the right fit this summer.
Parent involvement: Parents are asked to join Family Events during the six-week program, stay involved with the Village Vibe program throughout the year, and actively encourage their scholar(s).
Orientation: Every family must complete Orientation, held sometime in May. A scholar is not officially enrolled until orientation is finished, all paperwork is submitted, and any applicable fees are paid.

A Deliberate Choice for Families

SIV is much more than a summer hangout. It is an intentional commitment for families who care deeply about Self-Empowerment, Social Justice, Cultural History, Parental Involvement, Behavioral Excellence, Literacy, and Having Fun.

Our Expectations

Of Our Scholars

We set very high expectations for our scholars. We believe each one is capable of excellence and we expect them to work toward it every day. Nothing brings us greater joy than watching a scholar recognize their own greatness and grow into it.

Of Our Parents

We hold high expectations for parents as well. We ask parents to support their scholars by making sure they are at SIV every day, well rested, and ready to do their best work. We also ask parents to attend Family Events and to encourage their scholars to always give their all.

Of Ourselves

We hold high expectations for our own team. Our staff challenge scholars and never settle for less than the best each scholar can give. They encourage scholars to reach the next level and continually remind them of their greatness. We also remember that while we expect their very best, they are still young people finding their way in a world that can feel overwhelming and unforgiving. So when things get hard, we offer hugs, we forgive, and we begin again. We expect excellence, but we never expect perfection.
